On March 26th, the 13th National College Student Mathematics Competition finals, hosted by the Chinese Mathematical Society and organized by East China Normal University, concluded in Shanghai. A total of 732 students from 32 regions across the country participated. Our university's students, Guosheng Zhang from the School of Electrical Engineering and Xuhong Liu from the School of Mathematics, represented Anhui Province in this competition and achieved impressive results, winning the National First Prize in the Non-Mathematics Major Group and the National Third Prize in the Mathematics Major Group, respectively.

The Chinese Mathematical Society has been hosting the "National College Student Mathematics Competition" since 2009. Over the years, it has become the largest and most influential national academic competition, with this year marking its 14th edition. The competition consists of two stages: the preliminary round and the finals. The preliminary round took place simultaneously in 32 regions across the country in November 2021, with a total of 218,823 participants from over 800 universities. After rigorous selection, 748 students qualified for the finals, and a total of 732 students successfully participated.

Over the years, several instructors from our School of Mathematics, including Zhilin Yang, Shuo Tang, Li Liu, Zhengquan Zhao, Pei Ren, Bin Deng, Ruifeng Zhang, Shan Chang, and Kelei Tian, have been preparing for the competition in advance. They gather top math students selected from freshman final exams and those who performed well in the university selection contest. They hold motivational meetings and create WeChat groups, where they share typical math problems daily for students to contemplate and discuss. This platform is used to expand students' problem-solving techniques and focus on key areas of the competition. During the summer vacation, students receive an intensive half-month training. Our students have consistently excelled in this competition, which is not only a result of our university's three-in-one educational policy of "cultivating morality, enhancing capabilities, and promoting innovation and entrepreneurship" but also a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our instructors. It's a testament to the students' efforts and determination.

Furthermore, due to the delay caused by the pandemic, the 14th National College Student Mathematics Competition finals will take place at Guangdong University of Technology on May 27th, just two months after this competition. Five students from our university will represent Anhui Province, and we wish them the best of luck in achieving excellent results and further glory!
